Skincare Review: Harvest Tree
So recently Harvest Tree has gotten somewhat popular in the
world of online skin care retailing. A friend recommended it to me and I thought I would
give it a try. The page boasted organic, handmade products. Honestly just
reading the product names made my skin feel nicer. And oh, they did not pay me to write this, in case you were wondering.
It was Eid-ul-Fitr (July 2016, if you’re having trouble
remembering). Anywho, they had a deal going on 4 products in PKR 1000 so it was
a STEAL. Considering my sister bought the other two products. I only spent 600
in total for two products. They charge 200 for delivery.
I ordered the stuff on the first night of Eid and didn’t
hear back until three whole days after. Totally understandable, not everyone is
as waila as me to be online all the time specially on Eid. Anyway, I got a response, and was
told that I was still eligible for the 4 for 1000 deal. My cheapskate heart
skipped a beat.
I asked them about what face mask-soap combo I should get since I have super dry skin. They didn’t exactly address the question and told me their products worked for all skin types; which was good enough for me. So I chose the Coffee and Cocoa Skin Mask and Rosewater Activated Soap and was assured my order would be delivered within a week. Spoiler: it was.
Face mask and Soap |
1. Coffee and Cocoa Face Mask
I have been using this mask once a week for a good 5 months. The first three months I used it by adding half a teaspoon of the mask with enough water till I had a paste like consistency. I then applied it to my face, let it dry and then washed it off. I should add that for the last two months I have been using rosewater instead of water to make the mask.

There are no instructions on the mask about how to wash it
off. I think the company assumes anyone who buys it knows their stuff.
My technique is as basic as me. I wet my hands and use
circular motions to get my skin nice and exfoliated. Once I’ve done this for my
whole face, I wash the mask off. I do this with warm water. Once all evidence
of the mask has been removed, I use a teeny tiny bit of whatever face wash I’m
using and wash my face with it and some cold water. Afterwards, I apply
moisturizer and feel like a princess.
I kid you not, this mask is pretty damn good. For PKR 250,
it has lasted me a good 5 months and there is still some left. Enough to last
me 1/4 th of 2017! It exfoliates really, really, REALLY well. My skin is left
feeling super soft and nice. It also helps reduce pimples somewhat. Overall, my
skin is left feeling super soft and fresh. I mean I don’t know what a baby’s
butt feels like to make the comparison but what the heck, it is probably similar.
2. Rosewater Activated Soap
Okay, I will be super honest here. I only used this for a month. Mostly because I have an aversion to soap bars. No matter what you do they always end up become a moist lump which you do NOT want to touch much less bring anywhere near your face. The soap smelled pretty damn strong. Which wasn’t surprising since it did have a ton of rose water in it. Anyway, I cut the bar into a ¼ th piece to use.

But after the first month I didn’t feel it was worth it. I
would much rather use a face wash. I like exfoliation and this soap didn’t do
that at all. Actually I’m not sure what it was supposed to do except make me
smell like a gulaab ka guldasta. I still have ¾ th of the bar left. I should do
something about that… anyway, point is; I did not like the soap. I should have
given it a second chance but I am trash and I do not like soap bars because
they are icky.
Conclusion: Harvest Tree’s face masks are great. They give
you a bang for your buck. The company usually has promotions running so you can
take advantage of them! Get a friend or sister to split the cost and products
and voila, pretty cheap skin care.
My face mask is about to RIP, that's how much I love it |
As for me, I am
currently thinking of testing their oils and body scrubs. Along with a restock
of the face mask, of course.
